Information regarding the procedure

Everyone has the right to request that a website, a mobile application, or any element thereof be made digitally accessible. It is also possible to request that information be provided in an alternative format—for example, by having a digitally inaccessible document read aloud, or by receiving a description of the content of a video that lacks audio description. Such a request should include the contact details of the person making the request, an indication of which website or mobile application the request concerns, and the preferred method of contact. If the person making the request requires information in an alternative format, they should also specify the desired format.

A public entity should fulfill a request without delay and no later than within 7 days. If meeting this deadline is not possible, the public entity shall promptly inform the requester when the request can be fulfilled; this period may not exceed 2 months. If ensuring accessibility is not possible, the public entity may propose an alternative way to access the information.

In the event that an entity refuses to fulfill a request to ensure accessibility or provide alternative access to information, a complaint may be filed regarding such action.

Once all other avenues have been exhausted, a complaint may also be submitted to the Commissioner for Human Rights.
